Avenida Brasil tells the story of a young woman who, since childhood, has been planning a reckoning with her stepmother. Rita (Mel Maia), motherless, was raised with much love by her father Genésio (Tony Ramos). Everything changes when he marries Carmen Lúcia, known as Carminha (Adriana Esteves), an ambitious and disingenuous woman who, little by little, gains the trust of her husband and the other characters in the plot. From there, Rita starts to have her life threatened and, at the same time, is forced to live with Carminha. The plot revolves around this conflicted relationship and Rita's efforts to destroy her stepmother.
